We have CDs!

Our CDs have arrived and we're finally (kinda) a real band! They're even shrink-wrapped and shit. It's pretty legit, we have to say. And boy does it feel good! If you're lookin' to snag one of these bad boys to pop in the dash of your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta, then boy do we have a deal for you. They're only gonna be six bucks a piece--but if you get them at one of our shows, they'll only be five! We appreciate you coming to see us live, plus we know what a pain in the dick it can be to have/make change. You're welcome!

So you wanna grab this thing for five bones and don't know when or how? This Monday, September 17th, at the Mr. Roboto Project in Garfield (right across the street from Spak Brothers), we're having our CD release party with our friends Old Accusers and Pile, who are coming all the way down from Boston! You may remember Pile from our show at the Doo-Wop Mansion around this time last year... y'know, the one that got busted up by the cops and put Doo-Wop out of commission once and for all? Well, Pile didn't get to finish their set back then, and though they have come back to Pittsburgh since, this is most definitely the party you've been waiting for.

As for Old Accusers, if you don't already know them, you might as well just give up. They also just put out a brand-new record and we're excited to finally share the stage with the dudes. And, fittingly, you should get excited too. It's going to be off the hook for sure, maybe even with some extra little surprises to get your panties all twisted. There's only one way to find out!

Tomorrow night at the 31st Street Pub!

If you haven't heard already, we're going to be playing at the 31st Street Pub tomorrow night with Thrill Jockey recording artists Guardian Alien and their friends Starring (on Northern Spy). And if you weren't, check out our shows page, bro. We might not update this blog all the time, but we keep up with our dates on there!

Anyway, we were pretty damn excited to get down with the some of the most kick-ass psychedelic rock this side of the lunar orbit, but it turns out we weren't the only ones. Pittsburgh City Paper chose the show as a Critic's Pick this week, stamping it with the Official Hip Shit Seal of Approval. So now, if you don't show up to this thing, you're gonna feel like a real dummy. Get on that shit!

Our EP is here!

That's right, the Low Man EP has finally hit the internet. What's more, we're in the process of getting physical CDs right now, and hoping to turn one of our upcoming shows into a super-sweet CD release party so stay tuned for that! But in the meantime, you can check out this shit on our Bandcamp (or just by going to our Music page right here) and even download it if you're into it. If you do download it, you get all the liner notes and CD artwork, as well as a secret track, so get dirty with that shit.

That's the cover of it right there, all scary and sexy and shit. An interesting trivia fact: that guy in the background is our wonderful friend Gene from Sleepy V, and that sultry shadow being cast across the ground is his girlfriend Liz! And the alleyway we shot in? It smells like cat pee! The more you know. If you buy this shit, you'll get more pics, and it'll help us make some of the money back that we spent on the record so we can start working on our next EP. Oh yes, we've got six more songs we're putting down in the next few months, as well as an extra special split that we'll be recording and releasing even sooner. We've got all kinds of new goodies for you on the way.

And if you want to hear these new songs? Come to one of our shows! We updated all the listings on our Shows page so you can see what's coming up because we've got quite a few, and we'd definitely love to see you at one and rub our sweaty bodies on you. Because we're hot like that. Temperature-wise, that is.

June 22nd @ Howlers

We've been real shitty of late about updating this site. It's just so much easier on Facebook and we're exceptionally lazy. We also actually have a Twitter now too, created for the express purpose of goading Dave Mustaine into fighting us. So far it hasn't worked. Hopefully we'll at least get a City Paper mention out of it.

But we come bearing good news! Namely, that we've got a couple of great shows coming up, starting with another one at Howlers this week! We'll be playing with some bands from the Boston area, The Proselyte and Flying Snakes. This is some seriously heavy-ass shit, so we get it if you wanna stay home and cry all night and piss yourself to sleep. But if you're into rockin' then feel free to come a-knockin' down in Bloomfield. On the bill as well is a local band that is also fucking awesome, Admiral of Narrow Seas. We're really excited to share a stage with their syrupy, droney goodness.

There will be more soon (as well as an all ages!), and our EP is on its way back to us really soon as well, so you'll get all the Low Man you can possibly handle this summer. Not just you in Pittsburgh either--we'll be heading east as well once this EP is finished and we've got something to sell you, Philly. We're whores like that.

May 24th @ Howlers

A ton of shit has been going on lately, as you have no doubt gleaned. We finished our EP and it is in Chicago right now, being mastered by the wonderful Carl Saff. We've also got kick-ass new t-shirts for sale and a bunch of brand-new songs, but the most important thing is that we've got a full summer of shows coming up!

The first one is coming up this week, at Howler's Coyote Cafe in Bloomfield. Along with locals, The Awful Waffles, we are opening for Japanese pop-punk band, Uzuhi and their tour mates, FiRESiGN, a girl-fronted metal band also from Japan by way of New York City. It's this Thursday, the 24th of May, and it's the first non-house show we've been on since coming back from hiatus, and we'll be playing a bunch of new jams, as well as tracks from the EP that you already know.

If you can't make it, don't fret. We've got stuff scheduled through June and July with some really great bands, and possibly a super-extra-special even that we're trying to not get too excited about until things pan out. So check back. We'll be in touch. Touching you. Touching me.

March 23rd @ The Loud Room

Finally, it's time again for Low Man to crawl out of its dank cave and throw lightning bolts of music your way. We can't believe it's been so long, but we hope you've missed us. Enough to venture into the deepest, darkest South Oakland and spend a night with us and some of our friends.

We'll be playing on Ward Street at a house you may have already drunkenly stumbled into on one of their prior Whisper Parties; well, this one is big ol' number four, and we're super excited to be playing there with German Shepherd and The La De Les, a Boston band that used to play at The Aviary (RIP), as well as a couple of other acts including brand-new South Oakland upstarts, Philthy Oblivion.

Our set is going to be a short one to make room for all the different bands, but we'll be playing two brand-new songs that you've never heard before, and we'll be selling brand-new t-shirts that you've never seen before. But mostly, we just miss you and we can't wait to see you again. Hopefully sooner than later.

New to the Family

Sorry we’ve been so mysterious (and pretty much straight up missing) of late. It’s not that we’ve been hiding out or anything, we’ve just been busy trying to get things back together since fall and didn’t want to let anything slip out that wouldn’t be true. But now that things are pretty well in order, we’ve got a lot of cool things (and a few more mysteries) to let you in on.

First of all, Low Man is fucking back. We’ve gone through some changes in the past few months, but we’ve kept writing new music and are proud to introduce the two newest members of the Family. On drums we’ve got the venerable Derek Krystek who you probably know from Sleepy V or the Takeaway Tuesdays videos that he and his artistic cohort and roommate, Bryan Heller host online. He’s an absolute beast on the drums and we’re lucky to finally unleash him on some heaviness. Just practicing for the past month, he’s already broken at least three drumsticks.

And on guitar, we’re excited to welcome Mike Myzak, formerly of beastly space rockers, Chrononaut. He’s a wizard who’s down with the wizard and will be pumping some choo-choo-chuggin’ riffs alongside Luke and croonin’ sweet harmonies on every “Hey Ya! Hey!” we've got. He’s a good friend of ours and his facial hair makes us look way heavier than we even are.

But when can you partake of this sexually intimidating blood ritual that is the new Low Man? We’ve got a supersexysecret show coming up at the end of March in a filthy basement in South Oakland that you’ll hear more about soon, but even before that, we’re heading into the studio to finally record our EP! This weekend, actually, we’re taking to the fabulous Plus/Minus Studios in Pittsburgh’s historic South Side with producer Jason Jouver at the helm. He’s the guy behind Kim Phuc’s already legendary album Copsucker and Allies’ brand new disc, Wire Walk. He also sings in German Shepherd and slings a mean axe with Don Caballero. Long story short: he is the shit and we’re excited as hell to have him produce the record.

But what of other mysteries? We’ve got a few in store and we think you’ll like them when they’re all finished. We’re not really at liberty to talk about them right now, but if you want hints at what’s going on, you can visit our new Tumblr page, where J.z. has been posting pictures as things come together. It’s gonna be a wild time in the city.
